Our commitment
KumoKodo builds websites and software for other people, so we hold our own site to the standard we sell. We want kumokodo.ai to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader, magnify the page, or need higher contrast.
Conformance target
We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the level referenced by the US Department of Justice's 2024 web accessibility rule and by the European Accessibility Act, and it is the level we design to on client work.
We describe this site as partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard and we know of specific exceptions, which are listed below. We would rather name them than claim a clean bill of health we have not earned.
How we tested
This is not a boilerplate statement. On 8 September 2026 we ran an automated audit using axe-core 4.10 in a real Chromium browser across every public page of this site, at a 1440px desktop width and a 390px mobile width, testing against the WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 A and AA rulesets. We also tested interaction states that a static crawl never reaches, such as the mobile navigation while open and accordion panels while expanded. That is 49 page states in total.
Automated testing catches roughly a third to a half of real accessibility problems, so it is a floor rather than a verdict. We supplement it with keyboard-only walkthroughs of the primary journeys and manual review of focus order, heading structure, and form labelling.
What we found and fixed
- Text contrast. The quietest of our three text colours scored between 2.98:1 and 3.17:1 against our dark backgrounds, below the 4.5:1 minimum for normal text. This single design token accounted for about 94% of every contrast failure on the site. It has been lightened to clear 4.69:1 at worst.
- Scrollable tables were keyboard traps in reverse. Horizontally scrolling financial tables could not be scrolled by keyboard at all. They are now focusable and labelled.
- An unlabelled form field. A decorative product mockup contained a real, editable, unlabelled text area that keyboard users could tab into. It is now correctly marked as presentational and removed from the tab order.
- Malformed lists. Several lists contained images and components as direct children, which breaks the item count a screen reader announces. The structure has been corrected.
Known outstanding issues
- Support chat widget. The submit button inside our support chat renders white text on our brand cyan, a contrast ratio of 1.59:1. The widget is our own product, Aether AI Support, and the fix belongs in that product rather than in this site. It is on the queue. Until it ships, the chat can be reached instead via our contact form.
- Third-party content. Embedded content we do not author, such as external video players, may not meet the same standard. We avoid embeds where we reasonably can.
Compatibility
This site is built to work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, together with the screen readers those browsers are commonly paired with. It requires JavaScript for some interactive elements. It respects the prefers-reduced-motion setting, so if you have asked your operating system to reduce animation, our animations are reduced or removed.

We aim to respond within 5 business days and to agree a fix or a workaround with you. If our first response does not resolve it, ask for it to be escalated to the founder directly and it will be.
Accessibility in the work we deliver
Accessibility is part of how we build client sites, not an add-on. Every project we ship includes semantic structure, keyboard operability, visible focus states, labelled form controls, and contrast checked against WCAG 2.1 AA.
